Information
Modern Jewelry Antique Design
Edavi is the custom gold jewelry line from artisan craftsman Eddie Modestini, who specializes in intricate pieces in 22 karat gold. Every piece is hand-crafted from raw gold in the old-world style, with precious gems placed as accents and completely unique touches that immortalize each piece and make it very personal to the recipient. A fusion of Etruscan, Pre-Roman, Mesopotamian, and Egyptian techniques are used to create modern interpretations of ancient classics. Handmade in his private studio, every piece of Edavi Jewelry is fabricated, nothing is cast. There will also be gorgeous offerings in silver to come in the near future. Old world style meets contemporary chic.
Eddie Modestini: Artist Profile
The talent for art was passed down family lines for several generations. Eddie's grandfather restored statues from churches that were made from wood and gesso. Eddie's father predominately restored oil paintings. Bob Kulicke was an antique gold ground frame-maker when he and Eddie first met in the late 60's. Bob made frames for Eddie's father’s restored paintings. Eddie's father called upon Bob to help restore the frame for the only Leonardo da Vinci in America at the National Gallery. A few years later, Bob became more interested in jewelry than frame-making, founding the Jewelry Arts Institute in New York City; the most prestigious school for antique jewelry making. His daughter, Frederica is Eddie's teacher, passing on the family tradition directly to Eddie. Today Eddie works from one of his home studios in Maui, HI and Sebastopol, CA. Eddie started exploring his artistic roots through yoga, then painting and now jewelry - his latest passion. Yoga has profoundly effected his ability to stay focused. Today he is most often found sitting cross-legged in his studio fusing links to make handmade chain, a technique which dates back 4,000 years to the ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations.
